Operation Haiti

All Teams have returned from Haiti and are fine. A great Job done to one and all

Thank you for your continued interest and support

We have one team that has landed in the USA. A job well done. We are deeply grateful for his enthusiasm and dedication to this cause. We currently have one remaining team on ground with an expected arrival date of January 26.
All these Brave men and Women of S.A.R. groups deserve our recognition and support. Thank you all for your selfless service. S.J. Forbes

Om Ma Ni is currently involved with a support operation for the Orphans of Duverger Haiti. A hand picked Team of 4 men, led by Scott Forbes, will undertake this operation. We are bringing Missionaries and truck loads of Supplies into Haiti from Santa Domingo DR. Our team of Men will be of great need to these Children of Haiti. They will be transporting Supplies to coordinates,18* 17' 09.59" N , 73* 2' 58.00" W. Please feel free to track our progress. We will be moving, once again , through the heart of the devastation and into the south western mountain region of Haiti. Naturally, we will remain security minded and hope for a quiet and successful mission. This operation will start on January 31 2010 and will conclude no later then 4 February 2010.Our Team also be providing medical assistance whenever and wherever we encounter the need. We thank you for your continued moral support. A special thanks to Dan Ibison of Florida Air boat SAR for his logistical support in raising supplies from his Local Churches for the Children of Duverger Orphanage. Dan is always a great SAR member to reach out to for help. Thanks Dan!!!!
Update: Our Om Ma Ni Team has left Haiti with a proud sense of accomplishment. The Children we encountered at the Orphanage were truly remarkable. The staff there were greatly appreciative of the Food and Medical supplies we brought with us. The Children's Aspirin was of great need due to the outbreak of Dengue and some kids running fevers.
I was greatly impressed to see the Haiti people at their best. With little they have, they are always willing to give. These peoples spirits cannot be broken. With natural disaster after natural disaster, I liken these wonderful people to "Rocky", they get hit time and time again but they still get up and keep fighting the good fight. In the midst of all this devastation, you still see young and old smiling and laughing. I could talk about the devastation of Haiti but I think we need to see beyond that and hear about the Peoples of Haiti. The Children of Haiti are a special breed. They are so gentle and loving. I met many who took comfort in something as simple as holding your hand. I was amazed what a simple lollipop can do for a kid. These kids loved them!!!!. I met so many wonderful Staff and Children and their extended families. Sean Forrest was great to work with I am so proud to call Sean a Friend and Associate. It was a great thing to witness first hand what He and his talented team can accomplish in such a remote area. To get to Seans Orphanage, we had to traverse Mountain roads that would make a Billy goat think twice about taking. It was about an Hour and a half down these roads yet along the way we were greeted by warm smiles and waves that spoken volumes about these great People.I will never forget the trip out of the Orphanage. We had with us a couple of Women , a young girl and a baby we were bringing them into Port Au Prince. The baby was seriously congested and in discomfort. She didn't appear to have a fever yet she wasn't in great shape. Even know this Road was a nightmare to drive, I was surprised to hear these folks start singing such beautiful songs. Soon the Road travel didn't matter and I personally was lost in the Voices of these special people.I have seldom been impressed about a people like I am about these wonderful folks. I look forward to my return trip to Haiti in the coming weeks and working with Sean Forrest's Orphanage again. I truly think this is something Om Ma Ni will continue to be involved in over the coming years. It was disheartening to hear that supplies are still not getting to those in need. We had stopped at a Marine outpost and spoke to their "Gunny" Sargent and he informed us, off record naturally, that they are still low on supplies and cannot assist us in getting them to the further regions away from port De Prince. Two days later, we had the same response. I still believe the best way to get these People the supplies they need are through the NGO's that can deliver them by HAND !!!.Om Ma Ni International will continue to develop plans of Action to help these people of Haiti to get what they need. Joe Fitzgerald, our Grief Trauma Specialist, is going back to Haiti to assist some field Hospitals and the injured in Port de Prince. We wish him the safest of journeys and look forward to his updates as they come. Once again we wish to thank all the, so far, unnamed people that have assisted us in the tasks we undertake. We thank you for all your continued support and hope to provide you a personal sense of accomplishment from our excerpts here.
